IRONMAN

Saturday, June 15, 2013
This is neither about Tony Stark nor the hero thingy. This is nothing like my first blog, but this is about my super dad.

IRONMAN with the love of his life.

I could not even imagine my life without him; how I breathe the air, how I see stunning, beautiful things, how I could smell the feminine delicate scent of the flowers or the mouth-watering dish that my mom is cooking, how it feels when I touch the ice in our fridge or the water that is newly boiled. It’s like, without him, there would be no me, there would be no Roxandra Grace Villena Ceburon in this world, unless there is someone who has also that name.

I am not talking about that genius, playboy billionaire, not the one who has those magnificent armoured suits. The man I am talking about isn’t a genius, but he has a peaceful mind. He isn’t a playboy; he’s already contented with the love of his life. He isn’t a billionaire, but he is working hard to earn money. He even doesn’t have those splendid armoured suits, but he has this uniform; the uniform that whenever he is wearing it, it would make him earn money; he’ll have money so that he can provide all the needs and wants of his family. This is about this undemanding, courageous, considerate, loving, and stellar man who does his duty as a husband and a father to his three children, who’ll do anything with ease when it comes to his family, who only wants to have a peaceful life with his family, with us. The man who loves us more than he loves himself.

I gave him the epithet “IRONMAN” though he has some of the opposite characteristics. Contrasting that fictional character, I gave that because when it comes to the most important and loved people in his life, he ignores the pain he is experiencing just for them. He continues to love his wife despite of the long distance between them. He is so indulgent, which is sometimes not a good thing anymore, because he’s kindness is being abused. The reasons above are just a set of reasons.

Another set of reasons is, being literal, speaking of iron as a mineral, yes; he is to be compared to a mineral. He is essential. He is needed for many functions. He is needed by my mom for the rest of her life. He is needed as the counterpart of my mom. And to us, his children, he’s one of our role models. He has characteristics that I want to have. And, in return of those hardships he’s facing because of us, the most I can do for now is to study hard.

I salute you IRONMAN! I salute all the IRONMEN out there! HAPPY FATHERS’ DAY TO ALL OF YOU!

And oh, I almost forgot, “My Dear Ironman, I may have my own prince charming, but you’ll always be my king. I love you, Pa.”
